Sesselja House is a sustainable building and an educational center focusing on environmental issues. It is located in a beautiful area in South Iceland. Environmental education in various forms takes place there throughout the year, such as Study Abroad Program for foreign students, educational meetings for the general public and exhibitions. Good cooperation is between Sesselja House and various Icelandic and foreign organizations and all activities are interconnected to other activities at Sólheimar. At Sólheimar there is for example an organic forestry, organic horticulture, guesthouse, candle factory, herb shop, recycling, and an organic café.

Sesselja House is a timberhouse with a sod roof. During its design and construction phase environmental concerns were in priority. Sesselja House was formally opened July 5th 2002 when 100 years were since Sesselja Hreindís Sigmundsdóttir, the founder of Sólheimar, was born. She was a pioneer in Iceland when it comes to concern for the environement and sometimes referred to as the first Icelandic environmentalist. The government of Iceland financially supported the building of Sesselja House and now the activity in it.

Sesselja House can be rented for meetings and educational courses. It is open to everyone and guests are welcome to walk around and check out all the what it has to offer.

The director in Sesselja House is Pálín Dögg Helgadóttir.
